Generally, cargo lifting equipment is not installed if the total carrying capacity is more than 50000 tons.
As the stowage factors (volume per ton of cargo) of grain, coal and mineral sand vary greatly, the required cargo tank volume, hull structure, layout and equipment are different.
What are the requirements for stray ships? The transportation of bulk cargo ships for grain, coal, ore and other bulk cargoes usually has the following levels according to the size and deadweight tonnage requirements of cruise ships.
(1) The total deadweight DW is more than 100000 tons, which is called the Cape of good hope ship.
(2) The total load capacity DW is 60000 tons, which is usually called Panama type. This is the largest ship type allowed to pass through the Panama Canal. The captain shall be less than 245m, the ship width shall be no more than 32.2m, and the maximum allowable draft shall be 12.04m.
(3) The total deadweight DW ranges from 35000 tons to 40000 tons, which is called a portable bulk carrier. The draft is shallow, and almost all ports in the world can dock.
(4) The total deadweight DW ranges from 20000 tons to 27000 tons, which is called a small bulk carrier. The largest ship type that can sail into the five largest lakes in the United States. The maximum length shall not exceed 222.5m, the maximum ship width shall be less than 23.1m, and the maximum draft shall be less than 7.925m.
